Our secure client portal uses 256-bit SSL encryption for all data in transit, which is the same level of encryption used by major banks. All stored data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. Our systems are hosted on infrastructure that meets SOC 2 Type II compliance standards, which are independently audited controls for security, availability, and confidentiality.

Access controls ensure that only your assigned tax team can view your documents and information. We use role-based access with multi-factor authentication for all team members. Client data is never shared with third parties unless required by law or explicitly authorized by you (such as filing with the IRS).

Our document handling practices include: secure upload directly to encrypted storage (never via unencrypted email), automatic virus scanning of uploaded files, regular security audits and penetration testing, employee background checks and security training, and strict data retention policies with secure deletion of data upon request.

For communication, we encourage all sensitive exchanges to occur through the secure portal messaging system rather than regular email. If email is used, we avoid including sensitive details like Social Security numbers, account numbers, or tax liability amounts in the email body.

We comply with IRS requirements for tax preparers regarding data protection, including safeguarding taxpayer information under IRC Section 7216. We also follow best practices outlined by the IRS in Publication 4557 (Safeguarding Taxpayer Data).
