What is Form 2555-EZ?

Simplified version of Form 2555 for claiming the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion without the housing exclusion.

Definition

Form 2555-EZ was a simplified version of Form 2555 for US expats who wanted to claim only the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion without the Foreign Housing Exclusion or Deduction. Note: The IRS discontinued Form 2555-EZ after the 2019 tax year, and all filers now use the full Form 2555. Historical filers should be aware that previously filed 2555-EZ returns remain valid.

Who Needs to Know This?

Historically used by US citizens and resident aliens abroad who qualified for the FEIE and did not need the housing exclusion. Now all filers use Form 2555.
