Are there additional fees for FBAR filing?

FBAR filing is included at no additional cost in all of our tax preparation packages. Whether you choose the Standard, Cross-Border, or Comprehensive package, the preparation and electronic filing of FinCEN Form 114 (FBAR) is part of the service.

This includes: reviewing your foreign account information to determine FBAR filing obligation, preparing the FBAR with all required account details (institution names, account numbers, maximum values, etc.), electronic filing through the BSA E-Filing System, and providing you with a copy of the filed FBAR and confirmation receipt.

For most clients, the FBAR information is gathered as part of our standard tax organizer process. We ask you to provide year-end statements and maximum balances for all foreign accounts, and we handle the rest.

There are situations where additional fees may apply to FBAR-related services: filing delinquent FBARs for prior years (outside of a Streamlined filing engagement), which involves additional preparation and potentially a different filing approach; preparing FBARs as a standalone service (without a tax return), which is available for clients who have their tax return prepared elsewhere but need FBAR assistance; and complex FBAR situations involving numerous accounts, signature authority accounts, or foreign trusts that require significant additional analysis.

For Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures, the 6 years of required FBARs are included in our Streamlined package pricing. We quote the full Streamlined package (3 years of returns + 6 years of FBARs + certification statement) as a single engagement with transparent pricing.

We believe FBAR should be a standard inclusion because it is a requirement for virtually all US expats with foreign bank accounts, and separating it creates unnecessary complexity in pricing. Our goal is simple, transparent pricing with no hidden charges.
